MEET OCTOBRIANA
Octobriana, the Russian Devil-Woman, star of countless comic books, is the superhuman freedom fighter for the oppressed and the underdog. Come with her if you want a revolution!
David Bowie was going to make a superhero movie about her. Billy Idol has a tattoo of her. But chances are that even though she is celebrating her 50th anniversary in 2021, Octobriana is one of the most enigmatic comic book characters that you’ve never heard of.
Equal parts opportunism, inspiration, and art theft, the origin of Octobriana saw the arts world collide with the Cold War political backdrop of the 1970s, resulting in the creation of one of the most bizarre pop culture characters of our time.
The unconventional nature of her origin means that Octobriana is a rare public domain character: she’s been stolen so many times that no one truly owns her!
Octobriana With Love, edited and curated by Stu Taylor, is an all-new anthology that launched at the end of 2021, celebrating her 50th anniversary and features exciting takes on the character by some of the biggest names in comics today.
